Acupuncture
A time-honoured practice rooted in the body’s energetic balance
Origins and Philosophy
Acupuncture is one of the oldest practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine (T.C.M.), with roots going back several thousand years. It is based on the stimulation of specific points located along the body’s meridians, with the aim of harmonizing the flow of Qi (vital energy) and blood.
According to T.C.M., the body is seen as an interconnected system, in which the balance of energies is essential to overall well-being. Acupuncture fits into this view by supporting energetic rebalancing through the stimulation of specific points.

Acupuncture in Chinese
The term “acupuncture” originates from the Chinese word “Zhēnjiǔ” (针灸), which is made up of two characters:
-
“Zhēn” (针), meaning “needle”, and
-
“Jiǔ” (灸), which refers to moxibustion (a complementary heat technique).
Approach and Core Techniques
Acupuncture involves placing fine, sterile, single-use needles at specific points on the body, selected according to the principles of TCM. This may be combined with other complementary techniques such as moxibustion (gentle heat) or acupressure, tailored to each person’s needs.
Each gesture aims to support the flow of Qi, encourage relaxation and help maintain overall energetic balance.
